OMG I hate cliffhangers!! I don't mind a series where each book has a HEA and then continues on in another book but I HATE cliffhanger endings that you then have to wait months for!! ARGHHHHHHI am probably especially upset because I absolutely loved this book! I had been waiting for its release and read it straight away, finished it in half a day!! I was irritated in the beginning with Kenzies and Doms relationship and how naive she was being about his infidelity but once that was over with I settled with the book!! Hunter OMG I have no words for how much I love him!! Some of the characters bothered me a bit especially Mason, hypocrite much!! But I enjoyed the overall cast and how they fed off each as one big happy family!!
Great read and can't wait until book 2!!

Trying Not To Love You The Love Series Book 1 edition by Megan Smith Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
2.5-3 stars. The characters weren't unlikable, but they weren't easy to get to know. There wasn't much depth or explained reasoning behind their behavior, which includes Kenzie and Hunter's friends and siblings. The only person I understood was Kenzie, and even she was confusing at times. Hunter seemed like a good guy, but the reader is never in his head nor does he provide sufficient explanation for anything, so he comes off as someone who pushes Kenzie away just for the sake of it, as if he enjoys self-punishment. His nickname for Kenzie, which is CC, was really cheesy and far from endearing. The story isn't complicated to follow, but I couldn't always keep up because there is so much that is kept in the dark or implicitly assumed. Although it ends on an interesting note, I'm not necessarily tempted to continue.
OK, so I didn't realize when I purchased it, that it was a book aimed at young adults or new adults. It seemed like a good storyline and who doesn't want to read about hot college guys, lol.
Conversation was stilted at times and did not flow. I didn't feel too attached to the main female character. She just seemed flighty to me.
It was pretty hard to ignore the mistakes. Grammar, spelling, and of course I laughed at the description of the beach house two stories with a finished basement. The beach backs up to the yard. How the heck do you build a house with a basement, ON a beach?!
The kindle makes it easy to highlight things, so I kept track of the mistakes. ) There were at least 15. My 'favourite' mistakes were "Mom had dad grilled...", and "...ran his hand threw his hair" (that one happened twice).
PLEASE, before you hit the 'send to ' button, have someone proof-read the book. There is NO excuse for using 'your' instead of 'you're', or 'their' instead of 'they're'.
SPOILER BELOW!
The storyline was difficult to buy, at times. She goes back to the cheating boyfriend and he is the one that tells her she is pregnant? Just doesn't make sense.
Sorry, but USA Today bestseller does not seem to have much credibility.
Wow! This book thru me for a loop. In a good way and a bad way. I'm not saying I didn't love this book because I really did, but I felt that a lot of it was rushed. We get pushed fast forward a few times and I felt that we missed out when that happened.
The characters were great. MacKenzie was a thought heroine even tho at time and matured there were other times when she acted a lot wiser than her age. She had some amazing friends that had her back and I think that's what helped her become stronger. For the first half of the book she was very naïve when it came to her boyfriend and I wanted to smack her. Then she saw the light and things changed.
Hunter was a total alpha but at the same time super sweet! I loved his dedication to CC and how he tried to fight his feeling for her out of respect. He was funny, sexy and the perfect man for CC.
This was an older brother's best friend type romance that involves into more. It did end in a cliffhanger but both books are out. I'm interested in seeing more of of the other characters and seeing the development of the story and their lives.
Overall I'm going to give it 4 star because I felt that some things moved way to fast, other then that I didn't see much I didn't like. #2OCCJD
Cliffhanger! But I really enjoyed this and I'm ready to jump to the next one.
Mackenzie has had to deal with overbearing brothers her whole life. Her brothers best friend Hunter has been her lifelong crush and friend. It's mutual, she knows it is, but he would never go against her brothers and they don't want him anywhere near her. So she turns to Dom, a sweet guy she met in HS who had the ba**s to stand up to her brothers. He's great, until he's not. College has started to change him and he ends up doing the worst. Hunter is there when she needs comfort and a friend but her feelings for him make it hard to be around him. College life has just started and it's already been crazy. We get to watch the build up, the angst, the disapproval, the happiness and then to watch it all fall apart.
